Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

What is Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile Dysfunction is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection long enough for sexual intercourse. There are many cases where ED is occasional. However, frequent ED can be an indication of more complicated health problems as well as a risk factor for heart disease. Regular ED can lead to self-consciousness and sometimes contribute to relationship complications.

What causes Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile Dysfunction can stem from either physical or psychological problems. Although most causes of ED are physical, the brain plays an influential role in the ability to develop an erection. In some cases, both physical and psychological factors contribute to Erectile Dysfunction. An example would be an inconsequential physical problem that affects your sexual response and causes anxiety of being unable to maintain an erection; resulting in the development or exacerbation of ED.
